An Ongoing Journey

Conrad E. L’Heureux, Ph.D.

For me there is only the traveling on the paths that have a heart. There I travel, and the only worthwhile challenge for me is to traverse its full length. And there I travel–looking, looking, breathlessly.

For most of my life I have been a seeker. In my twenties it was the striving towards perfection in a Catholic religious order. Later it was the intellectual quest for absolute truth or some kind of practice that would lead to enlightenment. Today, however, I no longer feel the need to be a seeker. Rather, I have come to understand the simple fact of being alive as a wondrous, absolutely astonishing reality. I have also discovered the existential experience of actually feeling a physical and emotional sensation of aliveness, of my own life energy. When I am fully present to being alive, life unfolds on its own from moment to moment

I am publishing this web site in order to share my thoughts and experiences with whoever might be interested. If this is attractive to you, you could start by reading the first three pieces listed under the tab “Essays” at the top of the page. I wrote “On Being Alive,” in 1993 when I first began to understand how central this concept was for me. Three years later I published “Wellsprings” which includes descriptions of activities designed to lead students in my Inner Journey course to the psychological and physiological sensation of aliveness. Finally the short piece, “The Feeling of Wholeness,” is a description of some of my experiences of presence and connectedness which I first wrote in 2015.

I look forward to the remarks you might leave in the Comments section of the articles you read.
